Swimming Lessons

Level I: Water Exploration
Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water
Level II: Primary Skills
Purpose: Give students success with fundamental skills
Level III: Stroke Readiness
Purpose: Build on the skills in level II by providing additional guided practice.
Level IV: Stroke Development
Purpose: Develop confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills.
Level V: Stroke Refinement
Purpose: Provide further coordination and refinement of strokes.
Level VI: Swimming and Skill Proficiency
Purpose: Refines the strokes so that students swim with ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances. Level VI is designed with “menu” options. Each of these options focuses on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. The options offered at DWR include:
- Personal Water Safety
- Lifeguard Readiness
- Fitness Swimmer
